Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin: Pretty as a picture
DESTIN, Fla. -- As the former home to a Champions Tour event, the Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is certainly equipped to challenge the best players.
The 6,931-yard par 71, which hosted the Boeing Championship on the Champions Tour in 2006-07, is carved through marshes, wetlands and trees for a stiff, but beautiful test. Fortunately, there are four sets of tees that make it playable for most. With water on the majority of holes, however, keeping it straight is a must on this Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed course.
Opened in 2000 to rave reviews, the course, which features plenty of bunkers and large undulating greens, has several holes that will require your best. The par 5s are particularly strong, especially the 631-yard seventh, which plays around a large lake to a green tucked away in a corner. The par-3 sixth, which features an island green, can also be troublesome, especially into the wind from the tips at 203 yards.
