Jacksonville Beach Golf Club: walkable, water and wind
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- Just minutes from the Atlantic, Jacksonville Beach Golf Club has all the elements of coastal golf -- wind, a good amount of sand and plenty of water.
The golf course is also walkable and very affordable, making it a favorite among local players since 1960.
At just under 6,500 yards, Jacksonville Beach Golf Club might not seem especially formidable, but the elements, especially when the wind is up, make this a good test no matter what tees are played. Water comes into play on about half the holes, and there are greenside or fairway bunkers on nearly all the holes.
The golf course, which was redesigned by 1987 by Robert Walker, got new greens in 2009 as well as several bulkheads by the lakes.
The Jacksonville Beach Golf Club clubhouse is staffed with a full golf shop and grill, and there are ample practice facilities as well as a golf academy.
